Thorough assessments to inform educational planning and support student success.
An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a qualified, objective examiner who is not employed by the school district responsible for the education of the student.
IEEs are most often requested and initiated when parents or guardians disagree with the results, testing parameters, or specific conclusions of a recent evaluation previously conducted by the public school system.
The formal IEE process involves an extensive, deep-dive review of the student’s total historical educational records, combined with targeted direct assessments of their academic, cognitive, and behavioral functioning. It also prioritizes close observation and professional collaboration with both active classroom educators and core family members to ensure no context is missed.
Upon completion, the independent evaluator compiles and delivers an objective, legally binding report outlining key clinical findings and diagnostic determinations. This document serves as an essential framework to guide future educational planning, refine active Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 plans, and directly inform long-term team decisions regarding specific special education services and therapeutic accommodations.
