What is a psychological assessment?

A psychological assessment is a structured process conducted by a licensed psychologist to evaluate cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and/or academic functioning. This may include interviews, standardized testing, questionnaires, and observations. Assessments are used to clarify diagnoses, inform treatment planning, and provide recommendations tailored to the individual’s needs.

Do you accept insurance?

No, this practice does not accept insurance for psychological assessment services. We do not provide superbills or documentation for insurance reimbursement at this time.

What are your fees?

Fees for psychological assessments start at $3,500. The final cost may increase depending on the type and scope of the evaluation, as well as specific needs and concerns addressed during the assessment process. A detailed fee schedule can be discussed during your initial inquiry or consultation.

What should I expect during an evaluation?

The assessment process typically includes an initial clinical interview to gather background information, followed by the administration of standardized tests and questionnaires. The psychologist may also request information from other sources (such as teachers or healthcare providers, with consent). After data collection, results and recommendations are discussed in a feedback session and provided in a comprehensive written report.

How should I prepare for the evaluation?

Get adequate rest the night before your appointment. Bring any relevant records (such as previous assessments, report cards, or medical documentation). For children, ensure they have eaten and bring snacks, if needed. If you wear corrective lenses or hearing aids, please bring them. If questionnaires are provided in advance, complete and return them as instructed.

Who is included in the assessment process?

The primary client is the focus of the assessment. For minors, parents or legal guardians are involved in interviews and may complete questionnaires. With appropriate consent, collateral information may be gathered from teachers, caregivers, or other healthcare providers to ensure a comprehensive evaluation.
